Upper Kenai River Drift Trip
Alaska is world renowned for fishing, whether salmon fishing, halibut fishing, fresh or saltwater fishing, ice fishing, fly fishing, and more.
Spending the day floating the upper Kenai River out of Cooper Landing. You will be floating with an experienced Guide through some of the most breath taking scenery the Kenai River has to offer. It is not uncommon to see Bald Eagles, Moose, Brown Bear, and Black Bear on your Drift Trip. It is a very easy float with Class 1 waters.
Depending on the month that you are here you will be fishing for Red Salmon, Silver Salmon, the giant Kenai Rainbow Trout, and Dolly Varden. Rainbows in the 10 to 15 lb. range are not uncommon in the Kenai River.
Alaska Halibut Fishing
The fishing begins in late May with King Salmon and Halibut combo trips. Go out and troll for the giant King Salmon in the saltwater on their way to the river systems for their May, June, and July spawning runs. Then head out to the Halibut grounds to fish for one of the best eating fish in Alaska. Fish are regularly taken from 20 to 100 lbs. with a few taken every year from 100 to 300 lbs.
Alaska King Salmon Fishing
Salmon Catcher Lodge fishes King Salmon in several different locations around the Cook Inlet. First and foremost is the home of the world record King Salmon the Kenai River. The current world record caught by the late Les Anderson of Soldotna is 97 lbs. 4 oz..
The second great location Salmon Catcher Lodge fishes is the Kasilof River. Both wild and stocked King Salmon are taken from May until the end of July. Fish average between 18 and 35 lbs. here, but fish have been taken every year from 40 to 50lbs.
The third great location is the Chuit River located on the west side of Cook Inlet. This unlike the other rivers is fished by wading rather than from boats. We are picked up from the lake we land on by local natives.
Alaska Silver Salmon Fishing
The best (Coho) Silver Salmon fishing in the world is located in this area. We fish Silvers in four different locations, Kenai River, Kasilof River, Big River Lakes, and Kuskatan River.
Silvers average 8 to 10 lbs. with fish taken every year in the 20 lb. range. Silvers can be taken in several methods: bait fishing, bait trolling, casting spinners and other hardware, and fly fishing.
